Better times ahead for Belwest?

12/09/2002
The German firm ‘Evimex’ has confirmed its readiness to acquire 48% of the stock of the Beloruss-German joint venture ‘Belwest’.

It is hoped the development will breathe new life into Belwest’s once-revered ‘JV’ footwear brand, which has lost significant market share both at home and abroad in recent years and is produced on machinery that is now obsolete. Also blamed for the brand’s decline is the fact that footwear production has never been a core activity for Belwest’s parent organisation ‘Salamander’.

Evimex by contrast has a strong footwear industry track record, having co-founded the successful Beloruss-German producer of accessories and lasts for footwear, ‘Evimar’.
