Czech leather output bucks upward manufacturing trend in July
Despite a 10.8% hike in industrial output, the Czech Republic’s output of leather and leather goods fell 28% during July compared with July 2001, the Czech Statistical Office CSU announced today. For the period January-July 2002, the figures were +5.2% and –19.3% respectively.
The overall trade balance in July ended in a deficit of CZK16.3 billion ($535 million) - CZK2.1 billion down on the year before. The figures for August are expected to be markedly down, reflecting the severe floods that recently affected the country.
