Sumpter elected chairman of LIA
Leather Industries of America has named Jerry Sumpter, president and CEO of the automotive leather specialist Eagle Ottawa, as its new chairman. Mr Sumpter was elected to the post at the 86th LIA Annual Meeting in Asheville, North Carolina and will serve for two years.
Mr Sumpter was appointed to his current position in Eagle Ottawa in January 1999. Prior joining the company, he was president of the Akro Corporation (Canton, Ohio), a subsidiary of Collins and Aikman, a $1.8 billion global manufacturer of automotive interior components. A certified public accountant, Mr Sumpter began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Charlotte North Carolina.
