Shoes that are proud to be Brazilian

21/08/2002
As of July 2002, all shoes produced in Brazil now bear the legend ‘Shoes from Brazil’. Inscribed in Portuguese, Spanish and English, the same branding will also feature heavily in all overseas promotion by the industry.

The launch of the brand and accompanying logo took place at Francal 2002, in Sao Paulo, in July. Explaining the rationale, Heitor Klein, director of the ‘Shoes from Brazil’ project said despite the fact that the industry exports to over 100 countries, it had a very low profile with the overseas consumer.

Aside from the footwear itself, the new brand will appear on banners, folders, catalogues and other advertising and graphic material used to promote fairs, showrooms and other events taking place at home and abroad.

The 'Shoes from Brazil' project is part of the Export Promotion Sectorial Programme and was set up by Abicalcados - Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers, with the support of Apex - Export Promotion Agency in January 2001.
