Food safety accreditation for South African abattoir

Karan Beef’s abattoir at Balfour has become the first in South Africa to be accredited to the international Food Safety Management SABS 0330 Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. In order to gain the accreditation, the company was required to satisfy stringent food safety requirements aimed at minimising chemical, biological and physical hazards.
