SPA moves into Asia with Bonia
Bonia Corporation, the leather apparel and accessories producer based in Malaysia, has announced that it is to team up with an Italian leather design house, Studio Pelleterria Alessandra (SPA) as part of its strategy to compete in key regional markets.
Bonia managing director, Albert Chiang, said that the strategic busines partnership would "enhance the creativity and quality within the group" in its efforts to become the leading design house in Asia.
According to Pierpaolo Simonut, who started SPA in 1995 with fellow Italian fashion designer Bruno Sturaro, the partnership will be the first time the company has formed business ties outside Europe. "We see this as a great opportunity to venture out of Europe, and we are very excited about creating trendy and exquisite leatherware designs for the growing Asian market", he said.
