Irish Cattle slaughterings down 23.6% in June
The number of cattle slaughtered in June 2002 was down 23.6% from June 2001.
The number of cattle slaughtered in the January-June 2002 period was 7.9% lower than the corresponding 2001 figure.
Over the same period, sheep slaughterings decreased by 27.2%.
Comparative EU cattle slaughter figures for the periods January to March 2001 and January to March 2002 show that overall numbers increased by 11.3%.
