Hong Kong orders-on-hand down 11% in June
According to a monthly survey by the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, the value of manufacturers' orders-on-hand for local production in June fell 11% compared year-on-year.
While the value of orders-on-hand in the textiles industry was largely flat, those for the wearing apparel industry were down 5%. By comparison, the value of orders-on-hand in the electrical products industry fell 43% year-on-year, followed by the fabricated metal products industry (down 33%), and the electronic products industry, (down 26%).
Compared with the previous three-month period, on a seasonally adjusted basis, the value of orders-on-hand for the quarter to June fell by 2%. The monthly survey of orders-on-hand covers some 300 manufacturing firms with 50 or more workers.
