A tiny Austrian town played host to thousands of people from as far afield as the United States and Australia this weekend, all of them sharing one essential passion - leather shorts.

The annual International Windischgarten Lederhosen show gave designers the opportunity to showcase the latest thinking in this most traditional item of Austrian menswear which, according to the event organsiers, is becoming increasingly fashionable among women.

Since its creation in 1983, Windischgarten Lederhosen has since evolved into the world’s largest Alpine fashion event, attracting more than 5,000 visitors annually. Contests at this year’s show included ‘Most Attractive Pair of Lederhosen’, ‘Miss Lederhosen’, ‘ Largest Family (numbers-wise) of Lederhosen Wearers’ and ‘Most Travelled Lederhosen’.
