Irish cattle slaughter down

The Central Statistics Office of Ireland (CSO) has revealed that the number of cattle slaughtered in the January to May period was down 4.8% from the corresponding period last year. In May, specifically, slaughter figures fell by 1.4%.

Over the same period, the number of sheep slaughtered decreased by 33.3%. The number of sheep slaughtered in May 2002 was 21.2% lower than in May 2001.
