Members of a South Korean trade delegation recently met with Pakistani tanners, leather apparel manufacturers and textile mills with a view to set up a leather garment manufacturing unit and spinning and weaving mills in the country.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), a four-member trade delegation visited Karachi from July 21 to 23 and Lahore from July 24 to 26,

In particular, leather garment exporter, Park Soon-D, revealed plans to establish a manufacturing facility in the country, declaring Pakistani leather to be amongst the finest in the world. Delegation leaders Kim Kwang Soo, Lee Hak No and Mubeen Aamir, have also shown a desire to establish a spinning and weaving unit in Pakistan. They are also willing to import raw cotton, yarn, cotton waste and textile machinery.

Currently Pakistan exports textiles to Korea, and in the visit the delegation met with the Board of Investment officials, members of APTMA, Pakistan yarn merchants Association and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss possibilities for increasing bilateral trade and investment.

The visit was the first by a South Korean trade delegation to Pakistan for several years, and if fruitful should notably boost trade relations between the two countries.
