01/09/2002
Following its announcement of a new, more environmentally-compatible Scotchgard (see leatherbiz.com, July 16), 3M has appointed the leather chemicals specialist TFL to handle the distribution of the leather protection product within the tanning sector.

Under the agreement, tanneries will be authorised to use the product on a licensed basis, with TFL providing full support and advice on appropriate usage. Commented Mike Harnetty, vice president of 3M: "This collaboration will allow 3M to achieve a faster and more global market penetration with our new line of Scothchgard brand products for leather."

Added TFL president, Heider Krenz: "The co-operation with 3M will leverage TFL’s technical expertise, systems and service in leather protection, and ultimately provide the added value to complete solutions that our customers expect."

The new product will be released this autumn.
