Broadening its product base, the outdoor clothing brand Columbia Sportswear has announced its own line of leather coats.

To be rolled out in time for the US autumn 2003 season, the new range will be manufactured and distributed under license by one of the country’s largest leather coat manufacturers, Cartaret, New Jersey-based Excelled Coat Corporation. Founded in 1927, Excelled is a privately held company selling products to more than 4,000 accounts throughout North America and Canada, with sales of $60 million in 2001.
