Delcam to develop Euroshoe project
Delcam, based in Birmingham UK and supplier of CADCAM systems for the footwear industry, has been chosen to develop software for the Euroshoe project, a major research initiative that will encourage the transformation of the industry towards mass customisation. The project involves thirty-four organisations from nine different European countries, including companies manufacturing footwear and suppliers of machinery, together with a number of academic research centres.
The aim of the project is to develop production methods that will make the manufacture of customised shoes cheaper, ultimately benefiting consumers. The project will also develop and promote Internet-based ordering and distribution methods.
