09/07/2002

Workers from the Anja shoe factory, in the Guangdong province of China, have been hospitalised by glue poisoning.

The workers complained of feeling weak and dizzy after coming into direct contact with the glue. Eight remain in hospital. The company is searching for 40 former employees who could still be at risk.

The factory has changed the glue it uses and agreed to compensate the affected workers and pay their medical expenses.
