Sales of the Stride Rite Corp., of Lexington, MA, showed a slight increase in the second quarter of 2002 in spite of an early Easter and a sluggish retail economy. The company said that it fully expects earnings for the year to come in at 53¢ to 58¢.

Sales for the second quarter ending May 31 amounted to $156.5 million, an increase of 2%.
