Pakistan meat exporters land major Malay contract
Pakistan's Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has said the Malaysian government is to import $0.3 million worth of livestock from Pakistan on monthly basis. The order was secured by a trade delegation of Pakistani meat exporters during a recent visit to Malaysia, according to a press release. The exporters were confident of exporting $25 million meat to the country in the very first year. Malaysia's total annual meat imports stand at $220 million.
While in Malaysia, the delegation had meetings with the representatives of the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malay Business and Industrialists Association (Penang Chapter) and other local associations. The delegation also met the officials of Department of Veterinary Services, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Representatives of Penang State Authority. Malaysia is keen on importing beef on regularly basis and the authorities have expressed interest in visiting Pakistani abattoirs.
