Daniel Prochniak, 62 president and treasurer of the former J.P. Tanning Co. in Salem, Mass, died June 7 following a brief illness. Following graduation from college he joined the family business with which he was associated for 25 years, retiring in 1978. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son, a brother and two grandchildren.
