The Argentine tanner Sadesa has said it is to invest US$7.5 million in its plant in Santa Fe province.

Around $1.5 million of the total will be spent on a new production line for furniture and automotive upholstery export business, with the remainder going towards the upgrade of existing facilities. A major shoe leather producer, Sadesa has 18 commercial offices across all five continents and 10 factories in Latin America, Thailand as well as China, where it plans to set up another plant. The company has a declared monthly output of 1.3 million square metres and employs 2,750 people worldwide.

Sadesa said it expects sales turnover in 2002 to be up 7% on last year’s figure of $200 million.
