Germany: Footwear, textiles and leathergoods retail sales down

According to the trade research institute Das Institut fuer Handelsforschung, retail sales of footwear leather goods and textiles in Germany all fell in April compared with 2001. The January – April retail sales figures showed a 6% drop for footwear, and 5% in April alone. For textiles, the drop was 10% while sales of leather fancy goods were down 9%.
