DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise has announced the purchase of the flourotelomer surface protection and specialty surfactants business of Atofina, the chemicals division of the French oil and energy conglomerate, TotalFinaElf.

DuPont already manufactures and markets surface protection finishes and specialty surfactants with the Teflon and Zonyl brand names. TotalFinaElf manufactures the Forofac and Foraperle brands of surface protection products.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition is subject to consultation with the French workers council and authorities’ approval.
