EU to help Uzbekistan with animal breeding problems

21/05/2002

Uzbekistan recently hosted its first scientific conference on better control of animal diseases caused mainly by ticks. The conference is part of an EU project on tackling this problem in Uzbekistan.

The forum was attended by veterinarian experts and scientists from France, Portugal, Israel, China and Central Asian states. Harmful insects, including ticks, cause significant damage to development of cattle breeding. The problem is common in regions with hot climate, including Uzbekistan.

The scientists discussed ways of eliminating the spread of diseases caused by ticks, as well as the implementation of foreign experience and research results in order to fight devastating effects of those diseases on Uzbekistan's cattle population.
