91st Guangzhou trade show results in deals worth over $16 billion
More than 120,000 visitors came to the 91st Guangzhou trade show held from April 15-20 and April 25-30 say the fair’s organisers. Throughout the show deals were made for more than $16.85 billion in total, breaking all records according to Chinese national newspapers.
The innovation at this year’s fair was to hold two sessions during the same edition. This allowed for the number of new booths at the event to double and the number of exhibitors to increase by 70%. Statistics released by the organisers show that the number of importers from the US and Russia increased by 100% and 40%, which resulted in an increase in terms of business volumes of 160% and 64% respectively by companies from the two countries.
The most successful products at the fair were from light industry, an area where Chinese exports saw a 32.8% rise in 2001, with exports of textiles, garment and leather goods for example, increasing by 21.6%. Although many shoe and leather fairs already exist in China, most of the larger companies still exhibit at the Guangzhou trade show in order to present their products to as many international visitors as possible.
