A monster shoe made by Zhejiang Bali Shoe Group, labelled with "Made in Wenzhou, China’s Shoe Capital", is making a national tour throughout China to try and emphasise the achievements of Wenzhou’s footwear companies.

The director of Zhejiang Bali Shoe Group said that the production of the novelty shoe has profound meaning for Wenzhou because only 15 years ago the city was considered a sign of inferior products that were rejected by most supermarkets or even burnt in public. He said that for the first time companies from Wenzhou are labelling their products as "Made in Wenzhou" with confidence throughout China.

The giant shoe, which took nearly two years to produce, was made using more than 30 complete cow hides. It measures 6.38 metres long, 2.28 metres wide and 2.29 metres high, weighing 1.028 tons and breaking the previous Guinness record for the largest shoe in the world.
