LaCrosse Footwear Reports net loss for first quarter
US apparel company LaCrosse Footwear, Inc. recorded a net sales decreased to $22.8 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2002 compared to $29.1 million for the same period in 2001.
The company blamed the poor results on the performance of the Rainfair industrial division and the LaCrosse retail division where sales declined by 40% and 21% respectively. These falls were attributed to the economic slowdown in the US economy and reduced fill-in business for cold-weather products due to the mild winter.
On the positive side there was an 11.5% increase in shipments for the Danner brand primarily due to the introduction of new styles using the Terra Force technology platform within the uniform, hunting, work and outdoor cross-training product lines.
