Lectra posts 10% drop in first quarter sales

06/05/2002

The French textile and leather production systems specialist, Lectra, has posted a 10% drop in first quarter sales, blaming a weak global economy.

Turnover was Eur41.9 million compared with Eur46.5 million in the year before period. Though they were 11% down on the same period the year before, new orders received exceeded revenues.

Dollar revenues in North America were down 11% year-on-year, compared with a fall of 6% in Q4 2001. European sales registered a 10% decline with the largest fall being registered in the Asia Pacific area (down 17%).

Despite the figures, the company said it was confident of a return to profit in 2002, citing steadily improving operations ratios and rising recurring revenues, stemming from the renewal of software evolution contracts and service contracts. Revenues from new sales of software licenses, CAD/CAM equipment and related services fell by 25%.
