Turkish leather exports up 15.4% in March
Turkish exports of leather and leather products rose 15.4% to $43 million in March 2002, from $37 million in the same month in 2001, according to newly released government statistics.
For the first quarter of 2002, official figures show exports of $124 million - an increase of 2.8% compared with the same period in 2001. Leather garments were the most important sector, accounting for 60% of total exports, followed by footwear with 25%, leather goods with 10% and other leather products with 6%.
