Andhra Pradesh government seeks leather industry expertise
The Indian Leather Industries Development Corporation (LIDCAP) has issued a call for consultants to help realise its vision for the development of the leather industry in the state of Andhra Pradesh. One of the key features of the policy is the construction of a range of "leather parks" providing centralised facilities for leather companies.
LIDCAP wants to build three types of leather parks: smaller parks will have an area of about 25 acres with facilities for flaying and storage of hides and skins; medium-sized parks will be about 100 acres with facilities for curing, treating, tanning the hides and skins; the largest proposed parks will be about 300 acres with facilities for units manufacturing finished and exportable products.
In order to plan and build these facilities, LIDCAP has invited interested parties to send in expressions of interest. Once a shortlist has been drawn up there will follow a two-stage quality and cost-based selection process to identify the consultant for the project. The plan is to create around 94 Parks in total, with a split of 72 smaller, 16 medium and 6 larger parks.
