The new sector skills council for the apparel, footwear and textiles industry - Skillfast-UK - was officially launched today (April 23) in London. Skillfast is a new trade initiative to ensure the right training and promotion of the three industry sectors is given the proper emphasis.

The new council is designed to help the industries address the skills gap and improve company and employee productivity. It should help ensure the industry has the skills it needs at exactly the right time. The concept of these councils will be extended to other sectors of industry in the future.
