The Shiling Leather Goods Mall in Guangzhou city, where the first International Leather Goods Fair was held, is currently undergoing a makeover with a total investment of 650 million yuan ($78.7 million). A cooperation between the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA )and Guangzhou government, the Shiling Leather Goods Mall is set to become the largest fully wired leather exhibition space in China.
With a coverage of 500 thousand square meter, the mall will include 900 booths for raw leather materials and shoe accessories and another 1300 booths for finished leather goods. Its most unique features will be the e-commerce platform, which includes an online information centre, an article-delivering system and transport stations. The refurbishment is due to be completed in August 2002.
