Pakistan has announced fresh rounds of talks aimed at moving further towards a free trade area between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Pakistan’s commerce minister Razzak Dawood revealed the news while addressing the executive committee members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

The minister said that shipping lines would be encouraged to take shipments to and from Karachi for Bangladesh, and that the cargo facilities at Lahore Airport would be upgraded to boost regional exports. Speaking about the reduction of government activity in industry, the minister added that all sectors of Pakistan's economy, including textile, rice and leather, are now working in line with free market principles.
