Trade potential of leather trade highlighted in Khartoum
The leather processing sector was among several earmarked for development during a meeting earlier this week between Sudanese officials and a group of investors from the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
The investors were in Khartoum to sign off a series of measures aimed at strengthening cultural and economic ties between the two North African states.
As a result of the visit, UAE investors who do business in Sudan will be allowed to repatriate profits free of tax. It was further agreed that raw materials and finished products re-exported between the two countries should be exempted from duties. In addition to leather, the development potential of oil and oil machinery, meat, grain processing and construction was also highlighted during the three day series of meetings.
