Russia lifts ban on Chinese meat and poultry imports
The Russian veterinary service has lifted its ban on the import of Chinese pork, beef and poultry, imposed on March 15.
Russian Chief State Veterinary Inspector Mikhail Kravchuk took the decision after assurances from the Chinese State Administration for Quality Control, Quarantine and Examination that it would provide more detailed epizootic information. It also promised greater freedom of movement for Russian meat inspectors who had previously been prevented from entering processing plants and even detained by Chinese officials.
