Pakistan fails to meet export targets
A report by Pakistan’s ministry of commerce has calculated that the country missed its export target by $293.3 million for the period July 2001-February 2002. The Trade Performance Review concluded that lower prices were to blame for the figures. The target set for the period was $6.541 billion.
Exports in leather manufacturers fell during the period, along with various other products including rice, raw cotton, fish, vegetables, tobacco, spices, cotton yarn, knitware, art silk and synthetic textiles, carpets and petroleum crude.
