UK tannery invests in the environment
As part of a £1 million ($1.43 million) programme to update its sludge dewatering capabilities, UK-based Garston Leathers has recently taken delivery of two Flottweg decanters.
Installed in anticipation of more stringent environmental legislation, the equipment will enable the Scottish Tanning Group Industries group business to handle all its sludge dewatering requirements internally. Previously, waste water from the 8,000 hides a day site was disposed of at the local sewage works.
