Lectra launches new integrated system for leather production

20/03/2002

Lectra has developed a new system for leather processing, called Total Leather Solution HV which integrates digitising, nesting, cutting and unloading for large hides, designed for production of furniture and automotive leathers. Lectra claim that the new system can increase productivity by 30-50% compared with the previous version.

The main features are the DigitLeather Scanner and the VectorLeather cutter. The scanner can digitise hides up to 3-metres in width and can identify up to six different quality levels in terms of defects and grade areas.

To help the operation run efficiently the LeatherNest-V2 module automatically optimises nesting in simultaneous operation mode when the hide is transferred from DigitLeather to VectorLeather cutter, and keeps material loss to the minimum.

Other features include: LeatherOrder software, which defines work orders off-line without interrupting or slowing production workflows; a LeatherSimulation module which operates in parallel to the production line and uses multi-criterion simulations to define the best production parameters; and VectorPilotLeather, a new monitoring tool which analyses cutting conditions in real time and optimises cutting tools management.
