Slovakia discovers sixth case of BSE

Slovakia’s state veterinary service has confirmed the sixth case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in the country. The diseased animal was 80 months old and found at a farm near the town of Nitra.

According to the state veterinary service officials are currently conducting a thorough examination of the farm. The cow had three calves which were immediately slaughtered and a further eight cows on the farm are being tested.
