Imponente Tanning and its sister company Imponente Footwear became successfully certified to ISO 9002 in November 2001, thereby becoming the first tanner in Zimbabwe to achieve the award.

The company is now pursuing the ISO 14001 certificate and is hoping to achieve this status within six months. Imponente Tanning is known in the Zimbabwe leather industry for its introduction of environmentally friendly processes such as high exhaustion chrome tannage, hair save liming and aqueous based finishing.
