Fourmi, a French manufacturer and distributor of leisure footwear, was finally shut down on February 28, 2002.

According to local reports, the closure was ordered by a court because of "internal problems" and poor sales in recent years - not as a result of any insolvency claim. The fate of the company was finally sealed recently when an investor pulled out of a survival plan.
