Hermes increases sales by over 6% in 2001, leather goods up 8%
French luxury goods group Hermes has reported an increase in comparable turnover of 8.2% in 2001 to Eur1.227billion. Allowing for exchange rate fluctuations, that amounts to a 6% increase in sales.
The company’s leather division performed well, adding 8% in comparable sales, while sales for watches were up 13% and tableware, 10%. The company said it expects the growth in sales to continue in 2002, citing strong brand awareness developments in the network of Hermes boutiques, and good potential in the Japanese market.
