R. Griggs Group Ltd., the manufacturers and marketers of Dr. Martens footwear and apparel, has announced the appointment of Cliff Morton as chairman. Morton replaces retiring chairman Stephen Griggs, who now becomes vice chairman of the privately owned group.

Morton has over 30 years experience in banking, and served in President Gerald Ford's administration as deputy administrator of the US Small Business Administration. He is a non-executive director of several US companies and is the author of "Managing Operations in Emerging Companies".
