UK leather market predicted to decline in 2002
A report from market research organisation Plimsoll suggests that the UK’s leather industry is set to decline by 0.7% in 2002 with sales dropping by as much as 16.3%. Plimsoll forecasts future performance by examining the results for the largest 1000 companies in the UK leather sector.
Over half the companies analysed experienced a fall in profits in 2001 and 48% are currently loss-making. However, there is a subgroup of 229 companies that are achieving success even during difficult times, sharing growth of 17.4%. A select group of 57 companies managed even better, with a minimum of 41.5% growth.
