Taiwan introduces new mark of quality for footwear
The Taiwanese footwear industry has begun using a genuine leather sign for all shoes manufactured in the country in an attempt to make them more easily recognised by consumers. The innovation is seen as an effort to distance the products from cheaper alternatives made in China and move towards higher grade shoes such as those produced in Italy.
The general manager of Taiwan’s Shoe Technology Center, Mr. Zheng yuan jin, said that the new genuine leather sign was intended to protect consumers, enhance internal quality control, and make Taiwanese shoes more easily recognised.
