The organisers of Asia Pacific Leather Fair, April 8 –12 2002, have released further details of the event.

Exhibitors at the Raw Materials and Manufacturing Show will be categorised under the same product sectors as last year, with Halls 1, 2 and Concourse 2 being given over to Raw Materials; Hall 3 to Process Chemicals and Tanning Machinery; Atrium 2 and Concourse 5 to Manufacturing Equipment, Components & Accessories; Hall 5 to Manufacturing Equipment, Components & Accessories and the new Manufacturing Tanners sector.

Fashion and Finished Products exhibitors will occupy the Grand Hall showing footwear and leathergoods, with Hall 7 being devoted to handbags and luggage and Hall 5 to footwear, garments and manufacturing tanners.

According to the organisers, much of the impetus to show at APLF hinges on China’s buoyant leather sector market which was worth US$14.5 billion in 2000 - over 10 percent up on 1999. This will be further enhanced by China’s membership of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), which should boost exports and make importing easier for China’s leather sector.

Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), this year’s event will be the first to overlap the Fashion and Finished Products show (Monday 8 – Wednesday 10 April) with its Raw Materials and Manufacturing counterpart (Tuesday 9 – Friday 8 April).
