Turkmenistan acts to encourage home leather industry
The government in Turkmenistan has changed import and export tariffs for crude leather and leather goods in a move to bolster the country’s domestic leather sector, according to a report from the China Leather Industry Information Centre. Efforts to limit exports of crude leather will affect neighbouring northwest China where the majority of the leather is sold.
The China Leather Industry Information said that the tariff on imported shoes has risen to 30% while the duty on exported lambskin has been increased to 50%.
