Arlei Leather Group gains ISO 14000 standard

Argentina's Arlei Leather Group has gained the ISO 14000 certificate for environmental quality standards. By doing so it has become the first South-American tannery to obtain the certification, and only one of a very few tanneries worldwide.

Established 60 years ago, the company is a supplier to the motor industry and furniture upholstery sector. Arlei already has the ISO 9001 and QS 9000 (Quality System for the motor industry) certificate.

Arlei's effluent treatment plant is one of the largest on the continent and has the capacity to process the waste from the production of eight thousand hides per day.
