Azerbaijan posted industrial output of 14.87 trillion manats in the first ten months of 2001, up 4.7% year-on-year. The biggest growth (30.5%) was posted in the leather industry 22.5% in engineering, 46.1% in metallurgy, 10% in production of optical and electronic equipment, and 9.9% in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco sector.

Production fell 43.8% for rubber and plastic products, 21.4% for chemical products, 21.1% for wood and wood products, and 14% in publishing and the pulp-and-paper industry.

Production in the state sector slumped 6.6% year-on-year to 7,672bn manats in the ten months, while production in the private sector jumped 16.4% to 7,201bn manats.
