Walmart.com’s CEO joins Nike’s board of directors
Jeanne P. Jackson, chief executive officer of Walmart.com, has been appointed to the company's 12-member board of directors.
Jackson joined Walmart.com in March of last year after serving as president and chief executive officer of Banana Republic, a division of Gap Inc. She also led the Gap Inc. Direct division, which managed all non-store-related businesses including the Banana Republic Catalogue and the Internet sites for all three Gap brands: Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy.
Before joining Gap, Jackson developed an expertise in retail brands while working at Federated Department Stores, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Walt Disney Company and Victoria's Secret.
She has been recognised among Business Week's "Top 25 Managers of the Year," profiled three times in Fortune's "The Fifty Most Powerful Women in American Business," and included in "America's Most Influential Women: 200 legends, Leaders and Trailblazers" by Vanity Fair. Jackson, who also serves on the board of directors for the McDonald's Corporation, becomes Nike's second female board member, joining author and educator Dr. Jill Ker Conway, who has been a Nike board member since 1987.
