The World Bank’s director for Ukraine and Belarus, Luca Barbone, said that Ukraine has made good progress on privatising state-run sectors of the economy and reforming state procurement processes. The statement came after a successful review by the international institution of Ukraine’s credit portfolio.

Ukraine has experienced strong economic growth so far in 2001. According to government sources, GDP in the country rose by 9.1% for the first 10 months of 2001. For the month of October, GDP was up 8% compared with the previous year.
