Chinese import centre in Rotterdam receives warm reception in Wenzhou
An initiative in the Netherlands to create a "Chinese commodity City" in Rotterdam produced unprecedented interest when it was presented in Wenzhou, China in early November. Around 1500 representatives from Wenzhou
’s enterprises were present, including Aokang, Greatwall (Kangnai brand) among others. The figure far exceeded the 300 people that were originally expected. The "Chinese Commodity City
" project was set up by the foreign trade ministry of the Netherlands in co-operation with the local government of The Hague. The intention is to capture more of the Chinese import market, thereby becoming a portal for the goods in the rest of the EU.The construction of the centre is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2002 with a total coverage of over 6000 square metres and a complete range of facilities such as showrooms, office space and parking.
The idea is very attractive for Chinese enterprises as it not only helps companies to export goods to the EU but also offers help with company registration, applying for work permits, capital advances for registration and advice on how to reduce the tax burden.
